FOR THE WOMAN STARTING OVER IN THE AFTER
OF A GREY DIVORCE

Stop.

Before you put your email in.

I need you to read
this first.

Because if you're anything like I was
you may be wondering if something is wrong with you.

There isn't.

There is something real happening to you.

Those are two very different things.

You're not
crazy.
You're in
shock.

If your marriage ended after twenty, thirty,
forty years and you no longer recognize your own life anymore, you’re in the beginning stages of a grey divorce. Here are the first seven things wish someone had told me when I thought something was wrong with me.

No spam. No inspirational quotes. Just the kind of help I wish someone had given me in the beginning.

Please!
send it to me.

Here are the first 7 things
that I wish someone had
told me during the early stages of my grey divorce.

It lands in your inbox immediately. No pressure to move on. you can Unsubscribe anytime.

The lie

"I'm crazy."

Something is broken in me. I should be handling this better. Why can't I just pull myself together?

The truth

I'm in shock.

Your life changed shape faster than your mind and body could catch up. You may feel foggy, panicked, numb, obsessive, exhausted, sometimes all, in the same hour.

Can I guess what this week has looked like

This is the After.
And it can be painful.

Nobody sees this list but you.

If you recognized even one of
these you're not falling apart.

You're in shock.
And there is a difference.

I remember this part.

I remember sitting on the bedroom floor of a house I had found alone, signed for alone and set up alone. A house that was supposed to be my fresh start while still wondering how my whole life had become something I no longer recognized.

I honestly thought I was going crazy. I wasn't.

I was in shock.

Nobody explained that to me. So I wrote the guide I wish someone had handed me in the beginning.

THE WRECKAGE: THE 7-MODULE PATH

Seven modules.
One way through
the wreckage.

The Wreckage is the first hard stretch in a grey divorce, after the life you knew, before you have any idea what the new one looks like.

Each module connects to another part of what you may be feeling, helping you understand
a little more about what is happening to you
and why.

ModuleOne
You're not crazy. You're in shock.
ModuleTwo
Your body is trying to protect you.
ModuleThree
You'll feel okay, then fall apart again. That's normal.
ModuleFour
Don't rush the big decisions. Not yet.
ModuleFive
The goal this week is not to feel better.
ModuleSix
The 3 a.m. voice is not the truth.
ModuleSeven
You will not always feel like this.
And... One small thing you can actually do tonight inside the guide.

THERE ARE MORE OF US THAN YOU THINK

You're an after wife.

after wife

/ˈaf-tər wīf/noun

A woman, usually fifty plus years of age, living in the part that comes after a long marriage that ends later in life.

Grey divorce names what this is.
After Wife names who you are now.

Being an after wife is not something you sign up for.

Its the part of life you are in after everything in your life has changed. After twenty, thirty or forty years of marriage, “divorced” or “single again” may not fully describe where you are now.
The After Wife does.

There are a lot of us out here in the After. More than you may think.

YOU ARE NOT THE ENDING. YOU ARE IN THE AFTER.

You are not alone here. You are in the After.

THE WRECKAGE IS HERE TO HELP YOU THROUGH THE FIRST HARD STRETCH OF A GREY DIVORCE

If all this guide does is help you stop asking…

"What is wrong with me?"

…then it will have done exactly what I hoped. And that matters. To me.

You don't have to read it all tonight.

Read one page. One paragraph. One sentence if that's all you've got.

There's no homework. Only the hand I wish someone gave me in the beginning.

Questions people ask at 3 a.m.

The things you're probably wondering.

What is a grey divorce?

Grey divorce is when a marriage ends later in life, often when it has been more than twenty, thirty or forty years together of building a life with someone. That affects more than just the marriage ending.

Is it normal to feel like I'm losing my mind?

Yes. It is absolutely normal. You may feel foggy, panicked, numb, obsessive and exhausted. Sometimes all of those in the same hour. This is a very common reaction to have when a major life transition happens faster than your body is able to process it. Your nervous system can go into shock before your mind has a chance to catch up. This does not mean something is wrong with you.

Why do I feel physically sick?

Because you are not only going through something emotional. Shock can affect you physically too. Your sleep. Your appetite. Your stomach. Your chest. Your energy. Your body can react before your mind has fully caught up. You just may not notice it right away. It is simply trying to protect you the only way it knows how. This does not mean something is wrong with you.

Is this therapy?

No. The After Wife Coach™ is coaching, not therapy, diagnosis or crisis care. This guide is for personal, educational and supportive purposes only. It is not a substitute for care or advice from a qualified medical  or mental health professional. If you want to understand what is happening for you specifically, that is a conversation to have with  a qualified professional.

What happens after I give you my email?

You’ll get the guide in your inbox. I may also check in with you from time to time with something I think may help. You can unsubscribe whenever you want. Your email will never be sold or shared.
